Hands-On Art Activities for Children

The Creative Castle is located on South Central Avenue just
north of the intersection of Central and Carondelet.

Children of all ages are invited to discover the joys of the Creative Castle.

Here you will have the unique opportunity to experiment with new and exciting art forms. From throwing pots on a potter’s wheel to creating a Moroccan hand sculpture, creativity exudes from the Creative Castle! All activities are free of charge and parents are encouraged to actively participate with their children. Area school districts as well as cultural and educational organizations will be on hand to assist kids as they learn new skills and expand their artistic potential.

Craft Alliance
Ceramic Wheelthrowing & Handbuilding
Project: Craft Alliance will have lots of clay available for ceramic wheelthrowing and handbuilding. For more information www.craftalliance.org.

Lego Booth
Project: Children will have the opportunity to design LEGO creations from over 50,000 LEGOS! For more information www.clayton.k12.mo.us.

Rohan Woods School
Moroccan Khamas (Good Luck) Hands
Project: Hands have been symbols of strength and power. Khamas are amulets, or good luck charms, in the form of a hand. The word khamsas means “five” and refer to the five fingers. Participants will create their very own Khamas using their imagination.For more information www.rohanwoods.com.

Bouncy Pillars
Project: Create 2-color paper caterpillar with goggle eyes and printed face.

Color Diffusing Shapes “Colorful Creations”
